Today I'm joining Ginny at Small Things for her weekly Yarn Along (again!)
I made a lot of knitting progress on my recent trip - but didn't read a page of my book the entire time. There's something about long commutes that makes me too tired to read at the end of the day. And there's something about flying that makes me read the same sentence over and over and over again.
So with the due date for the Happiness Project looming on the horizon,
I've decided to just stop reading, put it back on hold, and wait for it to be my turn again.
And in its place, I've started reading Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger
who also wrote the Time Traveler's Wife (which I have not read).
This is a ghost story, which appeals to me right now and seems appropriate given Halloween is right around the corner. It also takes place, for the most part, in London, which also (eternally) appeals to me.

And even with all of my knitting progress, Damson is still not complete.
I am almost there, though, and will hopefully be done before the weekend.
I've made several mistakes,
so that, paired with the state of my yarn, will make for quite a quirky shawl.

I love the colors of the shawl, it is going to be very, very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteThat book is a very good book. I did not care for Traveller's wife though. Your shawl is lovely and the colorway is perfect with that pattern.
ReplyDeleteThank you! And I'm happy to hear you liked the book! I'm not very far into it, but so far I like it too.
DeleteThat yarn is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteHey thanks! :)
Deleteall that splicing will be worth it!! yarn is gorgeous! (haven't met a skein of malabrigo that I haven't loved!!!)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yah, I couldn't bear to give up on it! Malabrigo is one of my faves for sure!
DeleteStopping by from the Yarn Along mostly because the name of your blog intrigued me today. There is a super strong wind blowing in Denver. Anyhoo, I'll be interested to know what you think of Her Fearful Symmetry. I disliked this book and although I finished it, I wondered why I wasted my time. Now the Time Travelers Wife, I absolutely loved. The color of your shawl is beautiful. Can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I think it's so interesting to hear all of the opinions about this book just in my little comments section! It definitely makes me more intrigued about it! I'll be sure to keep you posted on what I think...and on my finished shawl!
DeleteI just stopped by after reading your comment and am so happy I did! I'm not sure what the Damson is so I'll go visit ravelry now, but I do know your yarn is simply gorgeous. And that book is intriguing!!!

I'm so happy you stopped by too! :) Damson is one of Ysolda's designs and I'm a big fan of hers in general. She does a lot of neat things with her patterns. I had the same thought about this book as well - found it just browsing in the library and thought it was perfect for me right now!
DeleteFantastic looking yarn - all those different shades, it's going to be one beautiful shawl.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Emma! :)
